General Hire Information

RATES

All rates include insurance, but do not include fuel.

AGE

Cars & Vans - minimum 21, maximum 75
Buses - minimum 25, maximum 70

OVERSEAS VISITORS

Overseas visitors may hire with thier own national driving licence (official translation or international driving permit may also be required)

DRIVING LICENCE

A full driving licence must be held for at least 1 year if over 23 and must be presented at time of rental. Driver must have a satisfactory driving record. Minimum age 21 with 2 years full driving licence and free from any Conviction/endorsement.

Prior to collection to avoid problems later, the hirer should declare any endorsements at the time of booking.

INSURANCE

All vehicles are fully insured for comprehensive risk. Hirers using own insurance will receive a discount.

PERSONAL INSURANCE

Personal accident insurance is available to cover both driver and passengers at an additional charge

DRIVERS ONLY

Drivers who have completed a rental agreement are entitled to drive.

PAYMENT

Payment is required at the commencement of hire we accept visa, mastercard and solo

HIRING PERIOD

Hire periods are from 8am or 5pm for 24 hours or multiples thereof, any extension of the rental period must be agreed with the rental office and additional payment made. Minimum hire periods may apply at weekends and bank holidays.

ABROAD

No vehicle may be taken abroad without prior written consent of the owner. Vehicles taken abroad for part, or all of the rental period are subject to additional surcharges.

AVAILABILITY

Every effort will be made to supply the model booked. In the event of it being unavailable an alternative model will be provided.

OVERHEAD DAMAGE

Overhead damage is the responsibility of the hirer and is not covered by the c.D.W.

NEGLIGENT DAMAGE

The driver is responsible for any damage caused by negligence: e.G. Kerbing tyres, damage to upholstery, cigarette burns. E.T.C.

PARKING FINES

The driver is responsible for any road traffic offence fines incurred whilst the vehicle is on hire, plus any administrative costs incurred by Scanlans self drive in the recovery of such fines.
